Centre for Longevity Research

“Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution.”

The Centre for Longevity Research is a new initiative under the South Asian Drugs and Addictions Research Council (SADARC), dedicated to advancing scientific and policy understanding of human longevity within the unique social, cultural, and health contexts of South Asia. The centre explores how biological, behavioural, and environmental factors influence lifespan and healthspan, while addressing the intersections between substance use, aging, and public health.

By integrating longevity science with SADARC’s established expertise in addiction and drug policy research, the centre aims to generate evidence-based insights that promote healthier, longer lives across the region.

Focus Areas

  • Aging and Substance Use: Investigating how long-term drug use, recovery, and harm reduction strategies affect aging trajectories and health outcomes.

  • Longevity Policy and Governance: Developing frameworks for ethical, inclusive, and sustainable longevity policies in South Asian contexts.

  • Healthspan Equity: Addressing disparities in access to healthcare, nutrition, and preventive interventions that influence lifespan.

  • Technological and Biomedical Innovations: Assessing emerging longevity technologies and their implications for public health systems.

  • Cultural and Ethical Dimensions: Exploring traditional South Asian perspectives on aging, vitality, and intergenerational well-being.

Leadership

The centre will be led by a multidisciplinary team of scientists, policy analysts, and public health experts affiliated with SADARC. It will collaborate with regional universities, medical institutions, and international research networks to advance its mission.
